Tom was a metallurgist and section head at the General Electric Plant in Schenectady NY and a good friend of
the scientist Charles Steinmetz. You can learn more about this extremely interesting man at: http://www.yonkershistory.org/stein.html
One story Tom often related from his childhood concerned a ball of lightning that rolled into the house,
around the kitchen, and down a drainpipe.
He married Edna Miller, of Boston, whose most famous accomplishment as a young girl was that she "earned
a man's wage", sewing on buttons by piecework.
Tom and Edna, their children, and Edna's parents, all moved to the Okanagan Valley in 1919, in search of adventure
in a new land.
Tom worked at the Summerland Experimental Farm until his retirement, where he developed tools, including
a hitch that was used for many years on North American trains. He was a mild-mannered man, ordinarily, but was known to, quite
literally, "jump up and down on his hat" when aroused.
